Dr. Laura A. Fierro, PhD, LMFT

Clinical Director

Dr. Laura A. Fierro grew up in South Gate, California in a diverse family. From an early age she excelled academically which laid the foundation for her pursuit of knowledge. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpenteria, California. Shei has taught at the under graduate and graduate level at several institutions in Southern California. She has provided mental health services in Northern and Southern California. She volunteered to become one of the first emergency responders for the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019. Dr. Fierro has played an integral role in the development of several programs in the greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas. She has collaborated with the Department of Children and Family Services, the Los Angeles Police Department (LGBTQ) task force, the California Victims of Crime and Compensation Program, the John Henry Foundation, and several other organizations throughout her 32 year career. Dr. Fierro is an expert in Trauma Informed Care, Crisis/Harm Reduction, and Substance Abuse.

Approach to SUD – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with solution focused therapy, utilizing a trauma informed care lens.

Sandy Rosiles, BA, CADC III

Program Director

Sandy Rosiles’ work at Y & Y Recovery includes Compliance, Licensing, Quality Assurance, and Client Care.

Sandy’s multifarious background includes work as a paralegal and six years as a bail agent/court liaison. Soon after gaining her own sobriety in 2012, Sandy worked at New Beginnings Treatment Center where she worked with a dual diagnosis population. At the same time she did volunteer work with teens at Children Are Our Future where she counseled teenage girls placed in youth homes with issues including addiction, active probation, or removal from family by Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). It was working with these young women that inspired Sandy’s passion to help others with addiction, family problems, and legal issues. Since then, Sandy has had the opportunity to manage multiple SUD facilities at Residential Detox and IOP levels of care. Presently, she volunteers her time supporting the LGBTQIA as well as Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) communities.

Outside of a commitment to her continued work with recovery and community, Sandy is committed to health and fitness. When she can she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new hobbies, and traveling to new places. She also plans to soon begin her work on a master’s degree in social work.

Approach to SUD – “It is my duty to furnish our residents with a healthy recovery environment, that will help increase their odds for sustainable recovery. I belief that there is no textbook way to recovery, that is why my goal is to expose our residents to the array of recovery models available to them at Y& Y Recovery. With this realistic yet firm approach one can personalize each individuals treatment plan., because as long as there is breath there is hope.”

Marianna Boyadzhyan, MS, AMFT

Primary Therapist

Marianna Boyadzhyan, M.S., AMFT., has a thriving interest in helping people reach their health and healing goals since 2013. Marianna studied psychology at the University of Northridge, where she received her Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Since then, Marianna has had multiple opportunities to receive her training and expertise within her field. She’s worked closely with adolescence, older adults, couples and addicts. Marianna has found a special compassion treating patients with a wide range of drug and alcohol abuse problems in a supervised environment. Marianna has expertise training in diagnosing and treatment. Marianna is a perceptive observer of human behavior with well-developed listening, comprehension and communication skills. Well versed in a variety of evidenced based theoretical approaches.

Elvira Romero, RADT

Case Manager

Elvira began her career in culinary arts, providing healthy nutrition to residents in treatment. Although, she found a great reward providing healthy nutrition, she fell in love with the one on one interaction with the clients. That’s when she decided to pursue a CADC and further her education in addiction studies. Through this journey she discovered a strong advocacy for clients and the recovery industry. She strongly believes her strength is to encourage clients in their recovery journey, through relapse prevention, self-discovery, self-love, and independence by helping to find purpose.

Approach to SUD – “The overall goal of my work is to practice effective treatment approaches at Y and Y Recovery, for those individuals seeking help for substance use problems. To achieve this goal, I believe that it is critical to understand patterns in the clinical course of substance use disorders, as well as the ways in which people are successful in achieving change. Finding motivation and setting real achievable goals is always a priority for my clients”.

Jessica Surface, RADT

Mindfulness & Yoga Facilitator

Jessica Surface has been practicing yoga since the age of 12 and teaching as a certified instructor since 2014. Jessica is passionate about sharing the healing benefits of yoga and meditation and believes that these tools can help anyone realize their true potential. Jessica specializes in working with clients in treatment and has taught in IOP, Detox and Residential center settings, as well as workplaces and retreats. She teaches clients one-on-one and in group therapy settings and is very experienced working with people from all walks of life.

She has seen first hand the positive effects that both mindfulness meditation and developing the mind-body connection through yoga can bring, and shares simple and practical ways to implement these teachings into her client’s daily routines. Jessica specializes in teaching Hatha yoga, Vinyasa flow and Restorative/Yin yoga. Her classes are tailored to the experience level of each client and take into account any injuries or trauma. Jessica brings aromatherapy, healing music and a little bit of humor and fun to all of her classes. In addition to teaching, Jessica has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and is the founder of Arosezen, a lifestyle and yoga brand.

Arturo Valdez Gonzalez, AA, RADT

Resident Advisor

Arturo’s work at Y and Y Recovery was initiated by his own avidity to help aid others in their mental health and addiction struggles. Leading with solution based techniques and integrity, his contributions involve mindfulness, meditation, substance education, inner child and codependent healing.

On his spare time he follows his exercise regimen of yoga, weights, hiking and partakes in retreats. He is highly involved in his passion of music, recording albums, performing and touring. His sobriety is of most importance and attends 12 step based programs and activities regularly. His ambitious mind navigates him to further his career in the field of therapy as working with others is his path of fulfillment.

Nicole Roberts, RADT

Resident Advisor

Nicole’s work at Y&Y Recovery includes facilitating groups, client care, crisis interventions, along with her general tech duties. Nicole is very compassionate and has a passion for helping others struggling with their disease of addiction. After battling her own addiction and on her way in recovery she realized that her addiction was not a setback but a step forward to helping others. While continuing her education as a drug and alcohol counselor she hopes to inspire others to turn their lives around. In her spare time she loves doing DIY projects and learning new things as well as spending time with her family.

Keven Davis, RADT

Keven’s work at Y&Y Recovery includes facilitating groups, client care, crisis interventions, along with general tech duties. Keven Davis grew up in Venice Beach CA. For many years he worked in his father’s restaurant Glencrest BBQ, however Kevin’s passion is helping people with addiction because in the past he struggled with his own. Kevin plans to complete the Addiction Studies Certificate course to make himself even more knowledgeable of the field he is passionate about. In his spare time Keven is involved with 12 Step fellowship and helping other addicts and alcoholics.

Tera’s work at Y&Y Recovery includes facilitating groups, client care, crisis interventions, along with her general tech duties. Tera is also attending CCAPP’s addiction studies course to become a drug and alcohol counselor.
